Applying for a job abroad can change your life—but only if done correctly. Unfortunately, many workers make avoidable mistakes that cost them time, money, and sometimes years of opportunity.

Here are some practical do’s and don’ts every blue-collar worker should know.
DO verify the recruitment company. Always check licenses, office addresses, and past placements. Genuine recruiters will not hesitate to show proof. If someone avoids questions or rushes you, that’s a warning sign.
DON’T believe promises of “guaranteed jobs” or “visa without interview.” No genuine overseas employer works that way. Interviews and document verification are normal—and necessary.
DO keep your documents ready and updated. Passport, experience letters, certificates, and photos should be clear and genuine. Fake documents can get you banned permanently from some countries.
DON’T hide information. Previous rejections, medical conditions, or employment gaps should be disclosed honestly. It’s better to lose one opportunity than be deported later.
DO prepare financially and mentally. Overseas work is rewarding, but it’s not easy. Different cultures, long hours, and time away from family are real challenges. Understanding this beforehand helps you adjust better.
DON’T pay money without proper receipts and written communication. Every payment should be documented. Cash deals without proof often lead to problems later.
DO ask questions—about salary structure, overtime, accommodation, food, contract duration, and safety. If something is unclear, ask again.
Finally, remember this: urgency is often used to pressure workers into bad decisions. Take your time. A good opportunity will still be there tomorrow.
At JSI, our role is not just to place candidates—but to protect them. A well-informed worker is a safer, stronger worker.
